How the maths works.

Hours a year

Your weekly hours across social, email, website and managing others, times 48 working weeks.

What they're worth

Those hours times what an hour of your time is worth. It's the cost of the work you're not doing while you do marketing.

The comparison

The value of the hours you would hand over, set against a year of the retainer that fits your revenue. It counts time only, not extra sales.

Is my data saved?

No. The calculator runs in your browser. Nothing is stored or sent unless you choose to email yourself the results.

How do I work out what my hour is worth?

Think about what you would earn with that hour on the work only you can do: product, partnerships, wholesale, your team. If you are unsure, start at $150 and adjust.

How many hours a week do founders spend on marketing?

It varies widely. Count everything: planning posts, writing emails, fixing the website, and briefing or correcting freelancers. Small tasks add up fastest.

What should I hand over first?

Usually the work you repeat every week, like posting and emails, before one-off projects. Your results email sets out the order I would use.

What if my numbers are small?
